Each week i give the kids a skill to learn and then they take that away and spend a minimum of 5mins a night practicing with a parent, brother, sister. Once completed the parent, brother, sister signs a sheet of paper so we know they have completed the homework and also so you as parents can learn and see what they are being taught.
Week 1 - Push and Turn
This skill can be used when you have your back to an opponent to create your own space and turn.
- Use the outside of the foot to push the ball to the side when you receive the ball from a team mate
- Twist your body in the direction of the ball
- Take the ball away from the opponent into the space you have just created
Week 2 - Drag and Push
This skill can be used to beat an opponent 1v1 or used to turn away from a group of players into space
- Place foot on ball
- Drag the ball back (with the cleats) from an opponent to then draw them in to make a tackle
- Push the ball (with the laces) forward past the opponent once he/she has committed themselves to make the tackle
Progression:
- Place foot on ball
- Twist foot and body to face Left/Right
- Drag the ball back (with the cleats)
- Twist the body in the direction of the ball where it has been dragged back to
- Push the ball forward using the inside of the foot into space and past the opponent
Week 3 - The 'Ronaldo' Chop

This skill can be used to beat an opponent 1v1 or push the ball out to a player on your team
- Dribble the ball forward
- Place Left foot over the ball to the right of your body
- Use the inside of the right foot to push the ball to the side into space past an opponent or to a team mate
Progression:
- Dribble the ball forward
- Place Left foot over the ball to the right of your body
- Use the inside of the right foot to push the ball forward past an opponent
Week 4 - The ’Maradona’ (Not the leaping hand ball)

This skill can be used to beat an opponenet 1v1 or even 2 opponents
- Place the right foot on the ball (Whilst dribbling)
- Twist you body to the left
- Place you left foot on the ball
- Continue to twist to the left and take the ball to complete a complete circle
Week 5 - ’Drag & Through’
This skill can be used to get out of a tight spot and turn away or turn to cross
- Place left foot on the ball
- Move the ball with the cleats to you right across your body
- Bring you right foot over the ball to you left still facing forward
- Bring you left foot parallel to you right foot
- Turn you body to the right
- Take the ball away with you left foot to cross, shoot or move into space

Being performed in a game:
The skill can be used to turn away from an opponent
- Dribble with the ball
- The foot you are not using to dribble with bring to the side of the ball
- Use your dribbling foot to ’fake’ a cross or shot
- Once you have ’faked’ the cross or shot bring the foot back towards the ball and use the inside of the foot to knock the ball behind you
- Turn away from the opponent with the ball

This skill can be used to move the ball to the side to create space
- Dribble with the ball
- Push the ball forward in front of you and turn your body to the side
- Then drag the ball back with your dribbling foot
- Then push the ball past you standing foot to the side
