Instructional Update from the Club President 9-8-09

Hi everyone!! I hope you all enjoyed your summer.

Registration: Sorry for the delay in updating you and let me take a paragraph on that. We instituted a new consumer friendly website to help with registration for our members and to provide valuable information. Nothing that is new is necessarily easy to begin both on the membership side and administrative side and some of our members wanted to use paper again as they were used to it. We had sent out emails to our members and to the coaches reminding of the June deadline. We also extended the deadline to the end of June because of the new process. We had to order uniforms 60 days in advance, so registration in June is necessary if we want to continue to provide full uniforms to our members. We are also dependent on volunteer coaches and we ran into a snag on a couple of teams.  We believe we now have our volunteers essentially in place.    Pete Konar has volunteered to help out on a 2nd grade team and help train one of the parents to take over and one of the junior high teams should be worked out tonight.

Believe it or not, we are continuing to receive registrations from our members. While we want to provide opportunities for all our community, we need to go forward with the individuals that were diligent.

New Directors: Steve Fletcher and Pete Konar have volunteered to be co-directors of the instructional club this season. I’ll continue to be President of the Club, but Steve and Pete will be taking the instructional reigns up for the fall.   Steve has been our instructional Director of Coaching for a year or two and comes with a wealth of soccer knowledge. Pete has his D coaching license and has a wealth of soccer knowledge as well. I think the instructional program just got promoted!!!

Trainers: We are pleased to announce that our MLS trainers from England are back: Chris, Gibbo and Simone. They live in some of our members’ houses. Simone will be taking over the kindergarten program this season. We will also be offering some training this year through them. More to come.

Fall Gift: The kids will receive a gift from the club this fall that I have handed out to the coaches. I hope they all like and appreciate the gift!

Website Updates: Please feel free to visit our website regularly for updates. I’ll try to get up new photos and create a slideshow on the instructional page. We’ll be adding information to the website for parents and kids alike.

Kick off: Games start on September 12. We will have photographers there as well and you’ll receive order sheets through your coaches. Schedules are in the Girls Instructional section of the website: /girlsinstructional/364791.html

Uniforms have been given to the coaches and the fields are in place with porta-potties as well. We’ll be at Kopp in the Fall and should be at the new Melas fields or Sunrise in the spring.

I am sure I am missing something but I wanted to get a note out about our kick off!!!  I hope the girls are enjoying their first days of school!

Sincerely,
Greg LaCost
President
